Foundation
Thirteen essential vitamins and minerals in well-absorbed forms, such as active folate, methyl-B12 and chelated zinc. The same research-based base every formula starts from.
Nutrigenomics, made personal
Your biology already knows what it needs. We read it, and blend a single daily formula made for you alone.
Our curated panel
How you activate folate, make vitamin D, process stress and fat: each one a variant the science actually backs.
The result
Not a shelf of guesses. A single formula, blended for exactly one person. You.
How it works
Step 01
$149, one time, no subscription required. A simple DNA collection kit arrives at your door in 3 to 5 business days in the US, a little longer to Canada.
Step 02
A 60-second cheek swab. No blood, no clinic visit. Seal it and mail it back: US kits include a prepaid return mailer, and from Canada you pay the postage.
Step 03
Our CLIA-certified lab genotypes 650,000+ data points. Our panel covers 48 curated formula markers across 11 categories, and 25 more behind your wellness traits.
Step 04
Optional: the $159/mo membership, billed monthly, in 3-month minimum terms that renew until you cancel. One custom-blended bottle, made for your biology at an NSF cGMP facility and shipped to your door.
The part everyone wonders about
Kit at the door, one cheek swab at the kitchen counter, back in the mail (prepaid on US kits). That’s the entire ask: no blood, no clinic, no fuss.
The science
Every person carries unique genetic variants, called SNPs, that affect how they absorb, process, and utilize nutrients. A variant in your MTHFR gene might mean you need active folate instead of folic acid. A VDR variant could mean your vitamin D requirements are higher than average.
Our formula panel covers 48 curated SNPs across 11 categories, from methylation and inflammation to lipid metabolism and oxidative stress. Each marker maps to peer-reviewed research connecting genotype to nutrient need.
The result is a formula that isn't based on population averages. It's based on you.

Scope
Our panel is 73 curated markers. The 48 that build your formula are chosen for a single reason: they change what your body does with specific nutrients. How you process folate. How much vitamin D you make from sun. How you handle oxidative stress. The other 25 are the wellness and lifestyle traits in your dashboard, like how quickly caffeine clears.
Not ancestry
We don't trace where your family came from, and we never will.
Not a disease test
We don't screen for, diagnose, or report on illness. No risk scores, no “you may develop.”
Not a medical report
It informs what you take, not how you're treated.
Some markers we read do carry medical meaning elsewhere. We use those only to keep your formula safe.
Your formula
Not a pill pack. Not an off-the-shelf multi. A single formula, made-to-order for the variants in your genome — with your name on it.

Manufactured individually, for one person.
Methylfolate, chelated minerals, bioavailable actives.
A research-based base, adjusted where your genotype calls for it.
A whole shelf of guesses, replaced.
What’s in your bottle
Thirteen essential vitamins and minerals in well-absorbed forms, such as active folate, methyl-B12 and chelated zinc. The same research-based base every formula starts from.
Folate and B-vitamin doses adjusted to your MTHFR, MTRR and related methylation variants, using the active forms your body does not have to convert.
Vitamin D3 raised above the base dose where your VDR or CYP2R1 variants are associated with a weaker vitamin D response.
NAC, alpha-lipoic acid and selenium added or raised where your SOD2, GPX1 or related antioxidant-enzyme variants point to them.
Quercetin added where your IL1B variant points to it, a flavonoid studied for its role in the IL-1 pathway, to support a healthy inflammatory response.
Chromium and alpha-lipoic acid adjusted where your glucose- and energy-metabolism variants point to them, to support normal glucose metabolism.
Beyond the bottle
Alongside your formula, your dashboard reads the quiet, human things your genes decide, how you clear caffeine, how you’re built to move, how you taste the world. A living profile you keep for life, not a one-time report.
Caffeine metabolism
CYP1A2Coffee hits clean and fades fast. Your body clears it quickly, even later in the day.
Muscle fiber lean
ACTN3Slow-twitch, fatigue-resistant fiber. Your build rewards aerobic work and volume.
Bitter taste
TAS2R38Greens, dark chocolate, and black coffee read as mild. Bitter is an easy win for you.
Earwax & body odor
ABCC11One letter in ABCC11, quietly one of the most useful variants a person can carry.

Illustrative example, using real doses from our rules engine, and every variant shown is on the array our lab uses from November 2026. Your own formula is built from our 48-marker formula panel; how many of those markers can be read depends on your sample and the lab’s array, and your dashboard shows the count. Most of the work is dose and form changes across the foundational base, plus a small number of added ingredients, capped at five so the bottle stays focused. A few ingredients our engine may point to, such as omega-3, CoQ10, curcumin and berberine, are offered as separately priced add-ons rather than blended in by default, and your dashboard says which is which.
The shelf
Not because you chose badly. Because nobody could tell you what you actually needed, so you bought what sounded right and hoped.
3 expired. None of them chosen for you.
A research-based foundation, adjusted to your DNA, made to order.
Your cupboard is a guess. This is an answer.
Every nutrient on this shelf is in Trait’s base formula, the foundation every member’s formula starts from. Doses differ from typical single-nutrient products: ours are set by our rules, and adjusted where your genotype calls for it, not matched to what is on a shelf.
The research
The markers in our panel and the nutrients our rules pair with them come from published research. A few published papers on the genes and the approach we work with, each summarised in our own words:
Methylation
The MTHFR C677T variant (rs1801133) makes a heat-sensitive enzyme with reduced activity, and people carrying two copies had higher homocysteine levels.
Frosst P, et al. Nat Genet. 1995; 10(1):111–113. PMID 7647779.
Acting on results
In a 138-person randomized trial, people told they carry a risk version of the ACE gene, and advised to limit salt, cut their sodium intake over 12 months more than people given general advice. No difference was seen for the other nutrients studied.
Nielsen DE, El-Sohemy A. PLoS One. 2014; 9(11):e112665. DOI 10.1371/journal.pone.0112665.
Vitamin D
A review of vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene variants: they have been studied for links to bone density and other traits, but how most of them change the receptor itself was still largely unknown.
Uitterlinden AG, et al. Gene. 2004; 338(2):143–156. DOI 10.1016/j.gene.2004.05.014.
Omega-3 metabolism
Common variants in the FADS1-FADS2 gene cluster, including rs174546, were associated with differences in blood levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Schaeffer L, et al. Hum Mol Genet. 2006; 15(11):1745–1756. DOI 10.1093/hmg/ddl117.
Field overview
A review of personalised nutrition: in the largest trial so far, tailored advice changed diets more than generic advice, with no evidence of extra benefit from adding genetic information, and the evidence that it improves health outcomes is still limited.
Ordovas JM, Ferguson LR, Tai ES, Mathers JC. BMJ. 2018; 361:bmj.k2173. DOI 10.1136/bmj.k2173.
These are five of the papers behind the field we work in, not the studies behind any one rule: your dashboard lists the studies behind each of your findings. Trait does not invent science: we apply published research to the specific variants in your genome. Research on whether matching supplements to genotype improves health is still developing, and Trait’s formulas have not themselves been tested in clinical trials.

Questions
We send you a simple cheek swab kit, no blood draw, no clinic visit. You swab the inside of your cheek for 60 seconds, seal the sample, and mail it back. US kits include a prepaid return mailer. Kits shipped to Canada do not: you pay the return postage (about CA$25 with Canada Post Tracked Packet) and fill in a short customs form, and yourtrait.com/sample-return walks you through it. Our CLIA-certified partner lab genotypes 650,000+ data points from your sample. From those we look at our panel of 73 curated markers: 48 that change what your body does with specific nutrients and shape your formula, and the rest behind the wellness and lifestyle traits in your dashboard. How many of these markers can be read from any one sample depends on the sample and on the lab's genotyping array: the array our lab uses from November 2026 does not carry two of the 48 formula markers, and your dashboard shows how many were read from yours.
Your genetic data is processed in a CLIA-certified, HIPAA-compliant laboratory. We never sell it, and we never share it with insurance companies, employers, data brokers or advertisers. Our manufacturer receives your formula, never your genetic data. We disclose genetic data to law enforcement or any other authority only when the law requires it, for example under a valid subpoena, warrant or court order. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and held on access-controlled infrastructure, reachable only by the small number of people who need it to build and ship your formula. You can ask us to delete your genetic data at any time.
Your results come first. So far, most members have had their results 5 to 10 weeks after ordering the kit, and some have waited longer. The biggest variable is how soon the swab goes back in the mail, and returns from Canada take longer because they cross the border. If you then subscribe, production starts once your results and health survey are both in. Your formula is made to order at our NSF cGMP facility in about 5 to 10 business days and ships directly to you with tracking. We email you at each step.
Every formula starts with a foundational base of essential nutrients in their most bioavailable forms, active folate, methylcobalamin B12, chelated zinc, and more. On top of that, your specific genetic variants trigger additions and dosage increases. Your customer dashboard shows exactly which ingredients are in your bottle, and which of them your DNA raised or added, and why.
Most competitors use quizzes or blood tests. Quizzes measure what you already know about yourself. Blood tests measure biomarkers that fluctuate daily. DNA is permanent, test once, optimize forever. And unlike pill-pack services that recommend off-the-shelf capsules, we custom-blend a single formula manufactured specifically for you. No two bottles are the same.
The $149 DNA kit is standalone, you pay it once, get your full insights report, and that's complete. The personalized supplement subscription is optional and entirely separate. It's $159/month, billed monthly from the day you subscribe, in 3-month terms that renew until you cancel. Each term is one 90-day supply and is measured from when your formula is made, so your first term usually spans four monthly payments rather than three. If you take it, it is charged at checkout, the same as any subscription, and then monthly. You decide whether to opt in after seeing your results, no bundle required.
We do not make outcome promises. Your genetics inform what your body needs, not a timeline for feeling different. Nutrient status changes gradually, and published research on the nutrients in your formula generally studies them over weeks to months rather than days. Consistency matters more than speed.
You can cancel any time, in one click from your portal. It takes effect at the end of the 3-month term you're in, and the remaining monthly payments of that term are still charged. Cancel at least 14 days before your next 90-day supply is due to be made and it is never made or billed; inside those 14 days it is already committed to production, so it is made, shipped and billed across one more term, and your membership ends after that term. Before you confirm, your portal shows exactly what cancelling today would mean for you. There is no pause option today. Every formula is made to order, so once a supply has been made or shipped it cannot be returned or refunded. If it arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we will replace it or refund it. The $149 DNA kit may be refunded if you cancel before the lab has received and begun processing your sample; once the lab has begun processing it, the kit fee is non-refundable, because the testing has been done.
No. Your DNA doesn’t change. Once we have your genetic profile, your formula can be remanufactured indefinitely without retesting. We may refine the rules engine over time as new research emerges, which could improve your formula, but you’ll never need another cheek swab.
We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before starting any supplement, especially if you take prescription medications. Every formula is screened against per-ingredient dose ceilings, and against the medications and health conditions you tell us about, before it is manufactured, and a formula the screen cannot clear is held for review rather than made. Your dashboard also shows a caution for certain ingredients in your formula, such as vitamin E, curcumin or CoQ10, that can interact with blood thinners and some other medicines. Our formulas are manufactured at an NSF cGMP-certified facility.
Stop guessing. Start with your genetics.
